CV and Biography
I grew up drinking in Maui's colors.
As soon as I could drive I started out on Maui's roads with my easel, painting en plein air, and today, these colors still nourish me. I stand with my easel and take in the movement of light and the passage of time. Rather than a snapshot, I aim to record the experience, an expression of that place. I look for an essence, found in certain places, in certain lights, of why this is home. I love the island history just under people's footfalls, the living Hawaiian culture, and the stories I overhear as I paint on site. These all work their way into my art.
